His Blood

Throughout so many worship songs you encounter the subject of His blood. It was just the other day that i opened up itunes on my mac, scrolled through the artist and songs, only end up on “Nothing but the Blood” by Hillsong United. About a minute later I was jamming out to it by myself, air drumming like usual, at like three in the morning. There is nothing like a late night worship session by yourself with the sounds of Hillsong United flooding in your ear canals. When the song ran out of seconds and ended i began to think about what I just sung to the Lord above. The song, if you haven't heard it before, is all about His blood, as you can tell by the title. I really tried to understand that, tried to grasp the fact that i was sing about His blood. Blood, in most every situation makes people freak, just imagine all the people that are freaked out by blood or even fait at the sight of it. But yet we are all singing about it when we sing this song, and others like it. Just listen the phrases that makes up the chorus of the song, “What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” So why doesn't this freak people out? What makes Jesus’ blood different than any other blood? What makes it not gross? What about it makes people not freak out about it? I mean His blood and our blood are the same, we are man, he was man. I mean Jesus was 100% man but yet at the same time 100% God. A hundred percent both, yeah try to wrap your mind around that. So his blood was holy, but i doubt it looked anything different than ours. Here is my concern, people are taking Jesus' blood not as serious as they should. I fear that people are just comfortable with the fact that its Jesus' blood, not really picturing what they are actually proclaiming with their lips. When you sing this song or any others that deal with the subject of this blood, really think about. His blood was real, it ran through his vains, and was dark red like all of ours. So dont take the thought of it lightly, don't get comfortable with the subject. I really doubt he was very comfortable when his blood was spilt to save us. He was no where near comfortable when life was stripped from him for me and you, spilt for every single one of us. The similarities of our blood and his are there, but theres something very different about his blood than ours. His blood was spilt, just like the two sinners on either side of him. But his blood did something extraordinary, something our blood could never do. It washed away our sins, very single one. Before Jesus, when God looked at us he saw was our sin. Before Jesus our sin separated us from God. But Jesus and his holy blood changed that.  It washed us clean in the sight of the holy father. Praise God for that!
So I challenge you this. Next time you sing about His blood, don’t just sing the words. Think about how his blood was real. Think about His blood was a deep red and how it ran down that cross. Like it ran down that cross, it runs down over us, making us clean in the sight of our father. So next time do not just sing it, know it, understand it, and believe it. His blood allowed us to one day walkthrough those pearly white glorious gates and see our father. Praise Him for His blood, dont take it lightly.
God bless,
Ryan
